Finally Behaving

So Typepad is FINALLY behaving and I can post the picture I promised you the other day.  Here is what I have of Jemima so far:

It might not look like much, but my goal is to make this project very process oriented rather then product oriented.  No racing to the finish line on this one.  Just the slow, methodical process of knitting, with zero stress.  So far, so good.

I also just finished buying all of the goodies for my HSKS 4 partner's kit.  I even bought the fabric for the bag!  Now I just have to figure out how to sew it all up and I'll be all set!  My mystery friend is going to get a HUGE package though.  I just kept picking up cute little things and then when I finally gathered everything all together, I realized that I may have gone a bit overboard!  I have a tendency to do that with all of the swaps though.  My Secret Pal packages were pretty darn good, if I do say so myself!  I hope she likes everything!

Look! Knitting I Don't Hate!

First things first, I couldn't get gauge to save my life with the cotton flamme and any of the cami patterns I was looking at so I gave up and knit this instead:

Its a beanie for J.  Actually it is a perfect beanie.  It is based on his actual head circumference and height and it really, really fits him.  I know knitting a hat is easy-peasy, but I needed a success here people.  My knitting mojo was seriously lacking.  But because of the perfection of the perfect beanie, I felt I could start knitting Jemima.  I'd have a lovely picture of my cast on Jemima for you to coo over, but Typepad seems to have forgotten how to add photos into blog posts.  Immediately after I did just that (see beanie picture above.  no, really, SEE IT, b/c I just put it there 2 minutes ago.)  Anyhoo, Jemima is in Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece in (MC) Candy Apple from Lorien and (CC) Provincial Rose from Rachael, lovely woman.

Picture when Typepad stops being a tw*t.

sorry.  couldn't help myself.

Tree Jacket Woes

Well, I am one sleeve away from finishing Tree Jacket and all I can say is UGH!  It looks terrible on me.  It fits, oh it fits, don't get me wrong but in quite a tragic way.  Rachael suggested that I block now and then re-try on to see if the blocking helps, but I don't know.  I  am pretty sure that I may have to frog, frogfrog it all away and start over at the bust line.  Some day....

I think I just really need to knit something successful right now that isn't as massive a project as a long sleeved sweater.  So, while my next project was to be the Jemima Sweater (that dear, patient Rachael and I were to knit together) I think I need to knit this instead.  But I won't knit it in silk.  No, I'm thinking about cotton (for those balmy, sultry SC summers).  Actually, I'm thinking CPY Cotton Flamme in this color (see below)  Pretty, no?  Wish me luck.  As of late, my knitting mojo has failed me, so I need all the luck I can get.

Fits In The Palm Of Your Hand

Teeny, Tiny Hazelnut Buttercream/Ganache Dacquoise Tortes.
They fit in the palm of your hand.

Hazelnut Dacquoise (2) layered alternately with dark chocolate ganache and hazelnut  buttercream.  Finished with toasted, crushed hazelnuts and piped ganache.  Though it looks a bit fussy, one of my eaters informed me that it tasted a bit like a crispy-chewy moon pie, the BEST crispy-chewy moon pie one could ever imagine, but a moon pie none the less.  He meant well.  Go figure.

ARGH! I've Killed It!

Yeah.  So today I decided that my keyboard was thirsty. Very, very thirsty.  Since I always suffer those in need, I poured an entire glass of ice water onto it.  And it promptly died.  New keyboard shopping this weekend.  Updates after that!

Progress, Progress, It's Inevitable.

Well, I have been swamped at work, but look - Tree Jacket is actually progressing!  See?

School starts tomorrow - Advanced Bakeshop, every Wednesday from
7 am to 3 pm.  My brother is here (currently on my couch) until Friday.  Work just keeps heating up for the next few months.  I've got a busy year ahead of me.

What I really need to do is finish this bloody sweater!  I want to knit other things now!  Argh!
