Mrs. Darcy is Blocking!!!

She is blocking now and hopefully, I can sew her up tonight.  Yay!

Also, our garage door is completely off track and the cable has come uncoiled from the right cable drum.
This happened at 6:30 am today.  This is not a good way to wake up.  Any ideas?

Saturday Torte

Today's torte is a Bacardi Chocolate Buttercream Ganache Torte with Devil's Food interior.  Sorry for the bad pictures, but my camera is acting up lately.  Also, my birthday is long past (7 29) but we had to write our own name.  Enjoy!  I have it on good authority that it tasted fabulous.  I am officially on a serious diet (lost 4 lbs this week!) so I am not tasting anything.

Where Has Post Secret Gone?

Anyone????

The blogger domain seems to be a blank template owned by someone named Nicole ("since Sept. 07").

Frank, where are you?

Argh!

Saturday Torte

Your Saturday torte  is a Dark Chocolate Genoise with Kahlua syrup and Espresso Buttercream aka The Kahlua Mocha Torte:

Tarts and Yarn

Yesterday was J's birthday.  He requested a fruit tart, claiming that cake was too heavy.  So, here we have a mixed berry tart with mexican vanilla pastry cream and a port wine glaze.  It was quite yummy.  Also, as you can see, I have only the sleeves to go on Mrs. Darcy.  Oh, Mrs. Darcy - she will be mine!

Sorry, no interior shot this time, but I will say this.  Instead of 4 horizontal layers sandwiched together with buttercream, each slice has about 10 vertical layers (sandwiched together with buttercream)

Mrs. Darcy Continues

Here's where I'm at.  Not too shabby.  Now if I can only find time to finish the left front, I'll be making real progress.

Saturday Torte

It occurred to me that you all know that I am in culinary school, but you haven't actually seen what I do.  This semester, every Saturday, I am taking a cake class that primarily focuses on European Tortes.  I will endeavor to photograph each of the tortes I make to taunt and tease you all with.  So without further adieu, here is the first Saturday Torte, a vanilla and chocolate genoise checkerboard torte with brandy syrup and raspberry buttercream:

Or what's left of it.  I served it at a little labor day weekend bbq we had on Saturday.  Here's an interior shot:
